ContainerSpace is
a new concept in pre-fabricated building. Devised by architects Nicholas
Lacey & Partners the system offers flexibility, speed of construction
and value for money. By employing 100% recycled shipping containers it
offers a sustainable alternative to conventional construction.
The containers are
pre-fabricated off-site in factory conditions, eliminating many of the
problems associated with traditional building methods. Here they are upgraded
as necessary to provide the desired thermal and acoustic performance standards
and to meet local building regulations requirements. Delivered to site,
the containers can be erected, and services connected, in a matter of
days.
Furthermore the system
allows buildings to be dismantled and re-erected elsewhere if required.
To date the ContainerSpace
concept has been successfully employed to create low cost workspaces,
educational buildings and offices, from single storey schemes up to five
floors high, and other multi-storey applications including low-cost housing
are at the planning stage. The containers can be configured in different
ways to provide stylish, well-lit and flexible spaces to suit a wide variety
of building needs.
ContainerSpace Ltd
together with architects Nicholas Lacey and Partners and engineers Buro
Happold can provide a complete turn-key service from inception to handover,
including the negotiation of any necessary planning and building regulation
consents. Alternatively a design and build only package can be offered
to those who wish to employ their own consultants.
